On Repeat: Tracks I'm Loving
I still plan to keep up creating playlists and making posts for it, but lately I've felt the need to share what I'm jamming to. You know those songs that you just fall in love with, or re-fall in love with and you just click repeat on them for a week straight? Yeah, that's basically my whole basis of listening to music. And since I've started working at a music magazine, I've had the privilege to get introduced to some amazing artists, so I'm always in a mood to share some of the tunes I'm loving. Here's my faves of the week:
Me and Michael // MGMT
Oh wow, whenever I think of MGMT I immediately think of playing Electric Feel on repeat for hours when I was in high school. I figured I would never find another song by them that had the same effect (and I haven't), but this comes super close. This track is so dreamy and upbeat that I can play it either on my drive to work, while I'm working or even during a bath. It's got everything in one and I can't get enough.
Redemption // Zacari with Babes Wodumo
Uhhhh, can I just put the entire black panther soundtrack on here? Okay, maybe not, but this is definitely the top track that I cannot stop listening to. It's not the actual film but it was beautifully inspired by it. A pop ballad, a celebration song, whatever you want to call it, you can't not enjoy this one. This song -- like the movie -- is literally everything.
Havana // Camilla Cabella (Ft. Young Thug)
Ok, even though everyone and their sister has been listening to this song for the last however-many months, this track only came to my attention about a month ago. Do I really need to say anything else? It doesn't matter who you are or what kind of music you like, you will be bo
Postcard // First Aid Kit
I can't believe how well this SWEDISH group reflects the folk-y, country music of 60's America. This song is a dream, and it right away makes me feel like I'm back in that era. First Aid Kit's entire new album is like this -- they really reflect this nostalgic, vintage style of music while bringing something new to it.
MICHUUL. // Duckwrth
I've definitely not known about this artist for far too long. After going to check him out, I pressed shuffle and this song started and I could not stop listening to it for 3 days straight. It just kind of wakes you up and puts you in a good mood. If you haven't heard of Duckwrth, go hear more of him right now.
Erotic City // Prince
You know, something while you're in the midst of discovering new music and keeping up with the latest releases, you need to let yourself enjoy some of the classics. And what in the hell is more classing than the one and only Prince. A local dive bar hosted a Prince dance party and after going I got rekindled with some amazing music by this legend. Needless to say, Erotic City just stuck, and if your'e trying to plan any dance party -- this song better be on the playlist.
